It's so exciting, because you're still in the "want" state, and you have all these wonderful ideas for your new item.  Sometimes I write these ideas down.  When I finally get it?  The day after is like "Gosh now I have nothing to look forward to." =P

So I inevitably end up ordering something else, eventually.  Not to fill the "I want to anticipate something" void, but because I pretty much always want something.  Indeed there are many items on my want list.
And then I get to go through the lovely agony of waiting again =]
I wouldn't mind having some kind of penpal, though.  That'd be a nice regular way of having something to look forward to coming in the mail.  I've tried sending letters to people in the past, but they didn't respond because we just talked on the phone or internets.  I don't think people overstand the significance of sending actual snail mail.  It's a fun adventure away from the norm, and a chance to put effort into something and express yourself.  I always put a lot of effort into such mailing things.  Special writing, making drafts, making cute little drawings, including a simple little gift.
